Marbled clay braid cup

Marbled clay braid cup
A wheel thrown piece using multiple clay bodies to create the marbled pattern, seen behind the painting. The swirls in the clay are evocative of the process of forming the piece on the wheel, an effectively “braiding” the two clay bodies together.
The braids and red ties are hand painted using underglaze, and a very, very tiny brush. The cup holds approximately 9oz. liquid is about 4.5” tall
This piece has been fired to cone 10 in gas reduction and is glazed with food safe glazes. I recommend hand washing (though in theory a dish washer should be fine for this piece).

Each of these pieces is entirely hand crafted and hand painted by me, therefore they may exhibit slight variation in color, texture or dimensions. These differences are testament to the unique character of handmade pottery and should be embraced as part of its charm.
